congratulate, celebrate
这两个词都有“庆贺”的意思。它们的区别在于:celebrate只能以事或物作宾语; 而congratulate后面只能以“被庆贺的人”作宾语。例如:
We celebrated his birthday by a banquet.我们举行宴会庆祝他的生日。
