    tend to, mind

She tended to her affairs carefully.
She has many maids tending to her.
We employed a girl to tend to the children for a few hours each day.

    tend, attend, mind, watch

He attended her through her illness.
There was nobody left to mind the shop.
A farmer is tending his sheep.
There was a policeman watching the pri- soner outside the house and making sure he didn't escape.

    nurse,tend,foster,cultivate,cherish
